International Scholarships from QUT Australia


The Faculty of Science and Technology offers a range of scholarships for international students. These scholarships are available across a range of programs within the Faculty and successful students may be eligible for more than one of these scholarships.

The scholarships offered to international students, include:

Merit Scholarship

High achieving International students applying to Faculty of Science and Technology single coursework degrees or to double degrees (coursework) that belong exclusively to the Faculty of Science and Technology will automatically be considered for the following Merit Scholarships:

Group A: Pre–arrival Merit Scholarship – fee waiver of AU$3000.00 for first semester tuition fees

Available to fulltime international students entering the first semester of a Faculty course who achieve a minimum grade point average of 6.3 or equivalent for their previous studies. To be eligible students must receive no other scholarship or sponsorship and their previous course may need to be completed and at least two semesters duration fulltime. The scholarship does not apply to students articulating to the next level of a nested program*.

(For Sem 2, 2010 only, students require a minimum grade point average of 6 or equivalent for their previous studies to be eligible for the Group A Scholarship [previous course may need to be complete and at least two semesters fulltime duration].)

Group B: Post–arrival Merit Scholarship – fee waiver of AU$3000.00 for second semester tuition fees

Available to fulltime international students who achieve a minimum grade point average of 6.3 based on at least 48 credit points of study in the first semester in the Faculty or of a Faculty course. The scholarship only applies to fulltime students entering their second semester in the Faculty or entering their second semester of a Faculty course where the previous course is complete (previous course duration minimum two semesters fulltime). To be eligible students must receive no other scholarship or sponsorship. Students who received a Group C scholarship are not eligible for a Group B scholarship within the same course.

(For Sem 2, 2010 only, students require a minimum grade point average of 6 based on at least 48 credit points of study in the first semester in the Faculty or of a Faculty course to be eligible for the Group B Scholarship [previous course may need to be complete and at least two semesters fulltime duration]; and students who received a Group C scholarship in Sem 1, 2010 may be eligible for a Group B Scholarship in Sem 2, 2010.)

Group C: Pre–arrival Tuition Fee Waiver Scholarship – full tuition fee waiver for first semester of chosen degree

Available to fulltime international students entering the first semester of a Faculty course (minimum duration two semesters fulltime) who achieve a minimum grade point average of 6.7 or equivalent for their previous studies. To be eligible students must receive no other scholarship or sponsorship and their previous course may need to be completed and at least two semesters duration fulltime. The scholarship does not apply to students articulating to the next level of a nested program*. Students who receive Group C scholarships are not eligible for Group B scholarships within the same course.

(For Sem 2, 2010 only, students require a minimum grade point average of 6.5 or equivalent for their previous studies to be eligible for the Group C Scholarship [previous course may need to be complete and at least two semesters fulltime duration].)

Group A, B, C scholarships apply only to Faculty of Science and Technology single coursework degrees or to double degrees (coursework) that belong exclusively to the Faculty of Science and Technology

*A nested program is referring to articulation between postgraduate nested courses for current QUT students who wish to, upon successful course completion, immediately articulate to the next level of a nested program in the very next teaching period.

Dean’s Scholars Accelerated Honours Program

The scholarship covers up to a third of the international course fees incurred by the student. Available to international students who have completed Year 12 education in Australia. Students who receive an OP 1 or 2 (or equivalent) may be accepted into the specialised program, which leads to an honours degree. The program can be completed at an accelerated rate (allowing completion in three years) It is available in any of the Faculty´s undergraduate Information Technology single degrees as well as in the Bachelor of Applied Science and Bachelor of Mathematics degrees. Applicants need to apply for one of the eligible courses through QTAC and submit a questionnaire to the Faculty.

Eligibility

The Dean´s Scholars Program is specifically designed for students with outstanding academic ability and leadership or research potential, who are entering one of the following Dean´s Scholars courses from Year 12 or a gap year:

Applications are considered by the Faculty and awarded on a combination of proven academic and leadership or research ability which is based on submission of the Dean´s Scholars Questionnaire.

Applications

There are two parts to the Dean´s Scholars Program application:

  1. Students who have completed high school within Australia and who intend to apply for the Dean´s Scholars Program, must apply via QTAC for one of the above listed courses (Dean´s Scholars Accelerated Honours Program)
  2. Download the Dean´s Scholar´s Program Questionnaire and submit by the due date to:

Scholarships for Alumni

This is an exclusive scholarship that entitles QUT returning alumni to a 20 per cent reduction in their first semester´s tuition fees. The scholarship is valid for undergraduate and postgraduate tertiary degree courses (bachelor, honours, graduate certificate, graduate diploma, masters, masters advanced, masters by research and PhD). The scholarship may be taken up only once and must be claimed within six months of starting the course.

This scholarship is not available to alumni who apply via an agent or who use the services of an agent at any stage in the application process. Domestic students and students who have Permanent Residency or who have Australian citizenship are not eligible for the scholarship.
